LOTS OF CHANGES AMONG IMMORTALS
Arkenstone was immorted, and is working on a Viking Scandinavia area.
Formerly a Knight of Legend, this new immortal is well-known to most of
you as a wisecracking fellow with a quick sword. He's also typing pretty
fast, and progress on his area is some of the fastest building in recent
memory. Look for the Viking area to be attached north and east of
Medieval Britain in the next few months.
Ptah and Kaige have been promoted to Imp and will be handling most of
the day to day stuff. This leaves the rank of God vacant for now. In the
wake of this change, most of their area projects have gone on hold as
they try to get in a few major changes such as player-defined short
descriptions, a wider range of skill sets, and better consistency in
mobs and items mudwide.
Sadist going on a sort of leave of absence as he is going to concentrate
for awhile on developing other software. He'll still be around, but
expect no fundamental code changes while this is so. In the meantime
Ptah and Ganelon will be handling the small code changes.
Charity is going to try to devote more of her time to her studies in
graduate school, but is still going to be around. She'll be supervising
Arkenstone in his building as the Vikings are a special interest of
Fionn is back from ireland, but may not be on the mud too much for a while
as he is in the middle of a job search. let's all wish him luck...
FOR PROSPECTIVE IMMORTALS
The building-only rule for immorts is being removed. People who desire
to be immortals may propose alternate jobs in lieu of building. Such
jobs could include statistical surveys, area updating, etc. Note that
there is only so much of this sort of stuff TO do, and that therefore
most immorts will still be primarily builders. The level 50 requirement
remains in effect. Please disregard the email address given in HELP
IMMORT to send proposals to. For now they can be sent to the address of
the LT, email@example.com. Please note that advancement for those
who follow this route will be less certain than for those who follow the
traditional building route, as it'll be harder to judge what is an
Word on a site is that we'll have word fairly soon. We have at least one
positive site and one strong possible, but both involve a time delay
while they are set up. Which we go with is sort of up in the air at this
point. Special thanks to Ganelon and Obmig who are working on these

...Been sort of quiet on the social front lately... Dusty is still in
mourning for Sanquela, the great flipper debate seems to have died down,
no clans are engaged in warfare (yet), and life seems to be proceeding
apace. There is some news that may liven things up however...
...Seems Magda was in dire straits, and then Obmig came to rescue her.
Magda repaid him by fleeing and closing the door to the room, whereupon
he was killed, unable to run away. Wasn't too much longer before Magda
herself perished in odd circumstances while Obmig was "guarding" her.
Trouble among the Hermetic Order?...
..and even if there isn't, ain't it fun to maybe provoke some?...
...The Assassin clan is ready for business! A kill-off to determine the
Chief Assassin will be held as soon as we have enough applicants for the
position. The Chief Assassin will be the formal arbiter for all
contracts and will get to choose the clan token, official name, and
password. The clan hall is in for all who care to see it. Note that the
tenure of a Chief Assassin lasts until his successor kills him...
..that's about all for now, other than the rather social news given
in the regular news section above. One nice result of the roleplaying
article is that now we have a fresh crop of players interested in
developing their characters. So I'd like to call attention to a few
newly interesting people to see around...
...there's Mitra, the Goddess worshipper from ancient Persia who seems
to have a low regard or at least a deep suspicion towards men...
...Tuco the merchant, who likes saying "bastard" a lot and has a quite
colorful turn of phrase even when he's not using that word...
...an irish nature-lover by the name of Bobbin who was overheard asking
what an elephant was the other day... seems he'd never seen one on the
...and Maele, whose childhood in Britain as the son of an erudite man
led to a great desire to see the world and seek adventure...
..let's all give a hand to these players for building their characters up
and for making Legend a livelier place to live.
