We're just past the half way mark in our trek through the ages. Made that
newbie from Klein or Lima yet? Figured out what makes them tick yet?
Dropped in your comments about what makes those hometown so great or so
awful? There's a little less than two weeks left before we start all over
again in the industrial era!

Congratulations and thanks to Cheyla this week for all her hard work with
the generic critters. Yes, the $s bugs have already been fixed and we're
just waiting on a restart for those fixes to go in.

I've also been noticing a trend with bug reports again... the more
information you can give about how you think something is broken, and
what steps you tried when doing a quest, the better able the builders and
coders will be at tracking down the problem. Likewise, mentioning there's
a typo in line 5 of a helpfile doesn't make it much easier to find...
please tell us what the exact problem is. Thanks!

And remember, if you're not sure something is a bug or want feedback on
an idea, the Q&A channel submissions get answered at the end of the Q&A
logs. I do pull a lot of the questions/suggestions from the regular
feedback submissions, but to make sure you get your question answered,
drop it into the Q&A channel.

Have a great week!

PK Open Practice is a combination of open space for duels without loss of
xp and a free-for-all. The event is open to everyone, whether they are
new to PK or have been jumping people for years :) But this PK Open
Practice is a particularly important one....

Why, you ask me? What's so special? Well! The reason I'm so certain that
it's time for everyone to dust off those skills and polish your battle
armor is this: The month of August will feature a series of Gangwars PK
Tourneys. Gangwars are a popular event, but they only come around once in
a while. Make plans to do your best -- this practice session is your last
chance to polish your skills and train your nerves before the series

Gangwars PK Tourneys start in August, and they feature a Free-For-All
environment where teams of 5 people are pitted against each other. The
last team standing wins! Start thinking about your team now, and get
ready to rumble!

September will feature an Official Championship Tournament, with the
ability to confer upon the winner the title of Heavyweight Champion. In
addition, we have a special bonus to offer: Before giving his character
over to Legends of the Past, Barabas conferred many of his special items
to be held in a safe place and given as prizes to those who sought to be
the next to be crowned!

This is an excellent opportunity to try tournaments and pkilling -- NOW

After the update on July 25th, characters will no longer be set to PKE if
they are above level 35. So, you have less than a week to decide if you
character will be level 36 or higher by next Friday's update.

After the 25th, there will be NO exceptions, if your character is level
36+, it will not be pkenabled for any reason.

The new machine in the OOC is currently producing t-shirts and souvenirs,
and works by putting your token into a particular slot corresponding to a
certain item. This machine will change on a monthly basis to a different
theme -- and the next theme is buttons and badges. This could be an
emblem, a button with a slogan, a medal -- anything in the "badge" style
of decorative expression. The best ideas will go into the machine and the
originators will be rewarded with BOTH a token to try the machine with
and a restringable copy of their idea.

So fire up your creativity and send your thoughts in over the idea
channel! Mark them "contest entry" to insure that I realize you mean them
for the contest, particularly if it's a creative interpretation of the
"badge" theme!

             Mediterranean Beauty Turned Mediterranean Misfit

Not many of you know me, but some would recognise me as a Mediterranean
beauty who joined your world not so long ago.

I was considered the local beauty at the village I came from and indeed
attracted quite a few adoring gazes on my journey to your land.

Sadly, an unfortunate encounter with a group of braves has changed all
that. I don't wish to slander all the braves of this world, but this
particular bunch was ruthless and vicious. They sliced me up and left me
bleeding to death. Fortunately, I survived, but my beauty hasn't.

The adoring gazes have ceased...

I am not addressing you because I want your pity. Save it for those in
need :) I have many merits and have never considered beauty to be one of
them. I may strike you as a little shy and sometimes a little quiet girl,
but I am not helpless nor hopeless.

I have always been a bit of an outsider, and with the new scars on my
face and people's reaction to them, I feel quite like the misfit. I don't
want to mislead anyone anymore, and therefore hope that when you see me
now, you will see the new me, and not the echo of that pretty girl I used
to be.

Maja will no longer be recognized as:

Short: a petite runaway with black dreadlocks
Long: A Mediterranean beauty hides behind her coal-black locks.

but instead as

Short: a petite runaway with black dreadlocks
Long: A Mediterranean misfit hides behind her coal-black locks.

                            Home Sweet Home

Deciding one night after hours of stargazing to return home, Jaid Celesti
set out on a journey to his homeland of the Elves in search of his
mother, and answers. Trying to sneak in, he was spotted in the dark, and
shot down with Elven arrows. Before death, his mother caught word of it,
and found him wounded outside of Suldenasellar. She spoke to him for a
very short time, as he was on the verge of death, but the most important
of these words was that she was actually the Elven Queen, making Jaid,
her half-breed son, Prince of the Elven kingdom - exile or not.

Jaid will no longer be recognized as:

Short: a fey, celestial youth
Long: A fey youth lounges here, the moon and stars twinkling in his eyes.

but instead as

Short: Prince Jaid Celesti
Long: An unusually pale individual lounges here, clad in the finest.

The best was to level... hmm... that's a different topic... Usually one

Usually, the best way to level would be to simply... kill things. Yes,
it's that simple! Kill things. The disease, known as LAZYIDUS has been
spotted on many occasions. The first account, 'I seen him, all hunched
over, begging people...*sob* to LEVEL HIM...what a grueling sight!'
stated a local innkeeper. 'He looked real pale, weak, and out

People, in today's society, more and more outbreaks are occurring,

on your mind, -Name Censored-?' Bantar says with a shift of his weight.

'Yeah, you wrote something dumb in the article, and I don't think it
should've been put in LT!'

*Well, we all know what could happen in this situation, but heck, let's
watch anyway!*

Bantar, fists clenched and ready for a fight, steps forward... *POW*
-Name Censored- socks Bantar in the face... Bantar's not getting up.
Bird's circle around Bantar's aching head, as -Name Censored- looks at
poor, defenseless Bantar... 'HAHAHAHAHAHA' laughs -Name Censored-.
Everyone but Bantar leaves the scene.

Slowly, Bantar rises to his feet, saying 'The moral of the story...

This notice is for anyone who is interested in joining the Legend military.

 1) In a few weeks we will have a payroll system instituted, which means
you will be paid to join the clan.

 2) So far we only have 5 people, so we need many more, contact Rahz for

 3) This is a RP clan, eventually it will evolve into a PK oriented clan
when we have 13+ members over the level of 35.

 4) This clan is based on the United States military, so act as a soldier
and roleplay as one as well.

 5) The payroll system goes as follows:

   - From the rank of pvt. to sgt.: you will get a salary of 5-7k a week
depending on what assignments are assigned to you.

   - From the rank of lieutenant to commander: you will get 10-12k per
week, also depending on which assignments are given to you.

 6) The payroll is not in yet as we do not have enough members to bring
in enough gold besides myself, so the first lucky few will not be
paid for quite awhile until we have enough to deal with this easily.

Star Gazing Part II - Royalty, and a Dark Twist

After waking from his dream, Jaid lay on the hill, gazing up at the stars
once again, wondering if his Father was somewhere up there, watching him.
Thoughts began to enter his mind. Jaid probably would never find his
Father, but, he at least knew where to find his Mother - his homeland
that had exiled him, Suldanesselar, the Elven Kingdom. Jaid pondered this
in his mind for a few hours before finally deciding he would try to sneak
in and locate his mother....

After travelling for what seemed like weeks, Jaid was finally just
outside the forest that marked his homeland. It was night now, and he
figured using his half-elven blood he would easily be able to sneak
inside, but he was wrong. Before even setting foot within the forest, he
was shot down with many Elven arrows. Word spread through the town fast
that an exile was trying to gain access to the homeland. Word also
reached his Mother, who unknown to Jaid, was the Elven Queen. Using her
elven magic, she cloaked herself, leaving the town, in search of her
dying son.

Jaid lay wounded on the outskirts of the forest when his mother found
him. He had many an Elven arrow stuck in his flesh, and he was fading
fast. When he heard movement, he opened his eyes, and before him stood a
beautiful Elf-Maiden. He knew right away that this was his mother. She
reached out for him, tears in her eyes, holding his hand.

'My son....'

'Mother... why?... Why was I exiled?'

'You were a half-breed, son, and the Elves would not accept it. You do
not know it, but I am their Queen. In order to stop chaos from erupting
throughout the Kingdom, you had to be exiled. A Queen with a half-breed
son, a half-breed Prince to inherit the throne? They would not have
it...I had no other choice!'

'So I... I am... a Prince? If only... ...if only I could have... met you
with... more time....'

And with that final statement, and final tidbit of Knowledge, Jaid
collapsed, dead. His mother wept for him, gazing at the stars, wondering
herself where Jaid's father had been all these years. Meanwhile...

'Did you hear that?' came a voice from the shadows.

'Yes, Morgoth. He is indeed the one. The one the book mentions,' Voska

'It is a good thing we came when we did. If we had discovered the Book of
the Dead any later, we would not have known that this...half-breed Elf is
the one.' said Moiranne.

'Yes, we must go, quickly, and raise him. No more talk,' said Morgoth.

In the darkness, three shrouded figures, Necromancers, circled Jaid's
body shortly after his mother left. They each took turns, reading from
the book, chanting in strange, long-forgotten Arcane languages. The mere
Necromancer makes mindless zombies and skeletons, this spell was designed
to create an Undead with a mind of his own. Into the night, the chanting
went on, pages turned, invisible words weaved into the air with their

Jaid blinked. His eyes opened, and he saw three hooded figures
surrounding him. Something was different. He was cool all over, and
things were surrounded by a red haze.

'Ahhhh. The chosen one awakens.' said Voska.

'What is going on here? Who are you, and why am I not dead?'

'It will all be clear soon enough, Jaid. Come with us, we will explain
everything,' said Morgoth, an evil tone in his voice.

And with that, the three cloaked Necromancers took Jaid back to their
stronghold, where they would tell him what had happened. The book that
had been delivered to them spoke of the one that would lead them to
power. A fallen Elven Prince... but not just any prince, an exiled
half-breed, killed in front of their own eyes....

                          A Powerful New Foe

Manadragoran Veldibar made her way across the stone quarry with speed.
Behind her was a large green dragon that she had woken while trying to
steal its large broken nail that still lay attached to its paw. She had
been wanting to take it and make an Amulet but instead she now ran for
her life. With only a large bastard sword and a little armor she was now
supposed to fend for her life against an imposible foe.

The angry dragon roared loudly now, happily chasing the human that had
woken it by trying to take its hang nail. The human was now only a few
feet away running as hard as she could. Snickering to himself at the easy
meal, he tripped her, making her fall flat on her face.

Trying to stand Manadragoran coughed dirt out of her mouth. Seeing defeat
in her near future she reached for the Amulet of Aman 'Nai. The amulet
that allowed her to change into a large black dragon for a limited time
to save her life. The drawback was she would lose a memory for doing it.
The amulet would take one memory of hers and destroy it for the usage of
the Amulet. She did not care, so she called to the Amulet, trying to feel
for its power. With a serge of lighting, Manadragoran's body slowly grew
and began to bulge. Soon she was twice the size of the young green dragon
in front of her.

The young dragon began to back off. 'I am Destroyer and you have troubled
me, now you will die for your ignorance!' Destroyer screamed in the
dragon language.

With that, she roared and charged the young dragon. The young dragon
stood motionless, afraid for its life. It cowered to the almighty will of
Destroyer, the old. Destroyer slashed at the young dragon with her claws,
scratching four long slashes across the young dragon's back. Then,
suddenly, she sunk her teeth into its head, crushing it beneath the
awesome power of the Destroyer's jaw.

Destroyer spit out the young dragon and stood back. She let out a roar of

All the sudden, the ground began to shake and tremor. sSon the trees
began to fall all around her. Hundreds of green dragons popped out of the
immense treeline. Destroyer shuddered as they began to come toward her.

                            Silent Musings

Sheyda walked along the beach as she often did at dusk, finding calmness
in the sound of waves caressing the sand.

When she was sure she was far away from the populated areas, she sat
down, drew her knees up under her chin and sat watching the ocean,
entering a form of trance.

Last night hadn't ended how she had imagined it and not with what she
wanted at all. Somehow she had ended up suggesting that she and Briarwen
would be Jakov's private little harem, since he obviously could not
choose between them. He had chosen her at first, but then the ...barmaid
had thrown a hissy fit and started kissing men in front of Jakov and it
had obviously made him very jaelous, to the point of hurting the innocent
men the ... barmaid threw herself at. Pah!

She took a deep breath, trying to find the soothing in the waves. Tonight
it took more effort than ever before.

So now she had agreed to sharing him with Briarwen. She loved him very
much, but she was fairly certain problems would arise. Up until now, the
barmaid had used every opportunity to throw tantrums if Jakov as much as
held her hand - she doubted she'd get any time alone with Jakov, without
Briarwen's attempts to make him feel guilty. Actually, when she thought
about it, it had worked every time. Jakov was more concerned about how
Briarwen felt than how she felt? Well, she would see - perhaps it'd work
out. She tried to ignore the inner voice shouting at her that she was a
fool to believe that and that she would only be setting herself up for
having her heart trampled. She sighed.

Maybe she really was a fool. But was she such a big fool that she would
stay if he treated her in such a manner? No, she told herself, I'd leave.
No matter how much it hurts, I will not stand for it... I will make the
choice for him. Then he can stay with that ...barmaid, and see how he
likes it when she keeps ...providing for customers even though she knew
it hurt him. She really couldn't see why his choice was so difficult...

The sun had set beyond the horizon and stars were winking in the sky. She
looked up at them, making a promise to herself. If he put Briarwen before
her and not on equal footing, she would leave. She would let him know in
no uncertain terms why she was leaving and she would return home. Surely
the sultan had forgotten about that not-too-flattering tune she'd written
about his first wife?

Why had she fallen in love with a man without a backbone? Pah! Her heart
had better make a sane choice next time! Someone with a backbone, please!

Alone on a beach, far from other people, a slender figure sat watching
the ocean. Salty water lapped at the sand and traced a jagged line down
her cheek.

                             The Road Home

Briarwen sighed as she trudged home. It had been a long night - no, it
had been a long week. It seemed there had been some sort of economic
downturn causing less disposable income, thus men having less money to
spend on non-essentials. Well, except fishermen. It seemed the fish
industry was booming. Repeat customers had gone down, even that guy, Bass,
who had seemed besotted with her (it must have been a long time...). She
hadn't heard hide nor hair of him since. Well, except for the thank you
note. She had to admit, that was a first.

As she reached the spires of Newgate and headed towards her little
cottage, she found herself hoping to find Jakov there. But, she knew he
wouldn't be there. He was with Sheyda. Where she had pushed him. Why?
Because she knew he'd leave her anyways. They always did, eventually.

Raffi kept telling her that true love existed. That people could be
together for a long time, and that they weren't just deluding themselves
about being happy. But she suspected he was just saying that because he
wanted freebies.

As she headed out the Moorgate and across the moors to her home, she
decided that she would just have to accept the fact that happiness was
not something meant for her. No, she was meant to be alone. Well.. as
alone as a wench like her could be... Strange, really, she was rarely
really alone, yet she felt alone.

As she stood there on the doorstep of her cottage, she realised she had
always felt alone. Until she had met Jakov. Somehow... someway... he'd
changed that. And she'd pushed him away....

                      Time for a Change... Again

Closing the door to his failed shop for the last time, Mordok had a
bitter-sweet feeling come over him. He had tried to go legit by becoming
an honest citizen. He had honestly wanted to help people. It was just
another failure on his part to think that anyone would want him to raise
the dead. A slight smile crept onto his charred lips as he thought about
what an amazingly stupid idea it had been. He couldn't even make orbs
after all.

Although he was mad at himself for making yet another bad decision, he
was also excited by the possibilities ahead of him. The world was his
oyster and he planned on eating it whole. He just needed to gather some

Once again, he longed for the comfort of his zombies. Once again he
wished to look into the non-judgmental eyes of the dead. They didn't care
that he was disgusting. They didn't seem to mind the charred flesh
hanging from his crooked bones. They only lived to serve him.

And once he had his friends, he had some grudges to settle. The world
would be a better place soon. Better for the dead at least.
