This is our last full week in the Ancient Era. Adamar has cooked up what
promises to be a fun game tomorrow night, be sure to check it out! Also,
you'll want to pull out your rhyming hats, we've got an Ancient Style
Randomized Limericks game coming up Wednesday night to help wrap up the
month because next Friday begins our trek through the Medieval Era!

The hottest topics that seem to be on everyone's minds lately are new
areas and code changes.

Post #4 on the Builder's board, found in The Builder's Floor in the OOC
complex, lists all the building projects that have been started. As work
is checked in on the mud machine, it gets listed weekly at the bottom of
the RECENT UPDATES section. Unfortunately, I cannot provide more details
in that section as I often don't get more detail on what changes were made
with the message saying it was checked in. Also, many times the details I
do get won't mean anything to anyone but the builder.

On the discussion board, when the question was raised about upcoming code
changes in the next three months, Ea! said that we shouldn't "expect any
ground breaking major changes in the next little while. Most, if not all
of the coding staff is extremely busy in real life and haven't had the
time to code that we would like.

Our priorities over the last few months have been to address the issues
with the mud's stability (which is getting better, thankfully), to fix a
few bugs that have been annoying the building staff, and to help us manage
and scale the mud better. We have one or two fairly major changes planned,
but if all goes well they won't be visible to players."

So, that's the scoop on those for now. Probably not popular answers, but
what I can pass along to you guys for the time being.

      /  /  Builders can allow certain "commands" that are not usually
     /  /   available all over the mud to work in specific rooms or
    /__/    situations. Some of these "commands" include:

   \__/         JOUST, MILK, MUCK, OBSERVE, OIL, PADDLE, POUR,

                  Senseless Slaughter of Bunny-lovers

Warlord Sigrid has been seen trying to beat Mabel Mater up, with her
beloved axe, Swinebiter, tied to her back.

As it didn't seem to go very well the warlord is rumored to have called
for assistance from the norsemen idling outside the lindisfarne abbey, and
thus the poor bunny-lover met her death.

It is believed that the fight started when Mabel Mater refused to give in
for Warlord Sigrid's attempt to bully her into baking a bunny pie.

The Grendels seem to be keeping to their word of stirring up pk again.
Once again they had the most members who were active in pkill this week.
The Mercenaries, Hermetics and the IRA were the clans with the next
highest number of members out on the pk front. The Grand Coven, Dark
Enforcers, Knights of Legend, and the Syndicate were all quiet, but not
completely silent this week.

There were 56 pkill deaths in the last week, so come on, let's get YOUR

There are currently 15 RP clans and 8 PK clans. This leaves open slots for

                         Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor, who is better than, you to send my letter to, see my pen writes
notes through my hand, into ink, it makes you stop and think just how, my
rhyming life started out...........

Under the guise of darkness, I was born, I never cried, never was forlorn
my family grew corn, that's maize, not hay, our farm was right near a bay where
I would lie all day and swim and play......nay to the danger very soon to
happen to leave me grappling to uderstand life, my father, his wife, my mother,
my brother my sisters, their misters, all killed by bandits, I don't understand
understand it.....Ever since I was small I never could call,
or talk, without rhyming, people gasp at my jiving, my constant flabber
my real ear grabber, I wish that it wasn't, it get's worse by the dozen,
I'm wondering if you could print me in person, it really would help,
for others to see, what kind of person, I really can be.

                            Keep Dreaming...

Lilian chuckled quietly to herself, a smug expression on her alabaster
face. Throwing the latest copy of the LegendMUD Times into the fire
blazing before her, she smiled, delighted with the curl and crackle of the
parchment's dance of death.

'Fools. Of course the charisma of the Dark Lord appears to be waning...
the Enforcers are not what they once were,' she mutters quietly. 'But the
Enforcers are not the only proponents of His Will...'

A strangled cry from the far corner of the chamber interrupted her
ponderings. Wrinkling her upper lip in disgust, she turned, glaring at the
pathetic infant shackled to the wall. The Dark Lord had not finished with
his Dark Darling. Just what he had planned, He had not imparted to her as
yet, but something ill was definitely blowing in on the fetid breeze from
Hell.

The bag of bones one supposed was a human child continued to sob
wretchedly against the cold stone floor. Picking up a jagged rock, Lilian
heaved it at the brat, giggling hysterically at the agonised cry produced
as the rock made contact with the childbs forehead. She stared at the heap
of rags on the floor for a moment longer making sure the annoyance was out
cold, then nodded to herself, satisfied that there would be no further
disturbance for a while.

She didn't know what the Dark Lord wanted with the child, but she hoped,
wholeheartedly, that she would be the one He would allow to dispatch the
brat when the time came. Turning her gaze once more to the flames, she
sighed -- motherhood was definitely not a vocational choice.

                            Father's Day

The grave wasn't what Moira had expected it to be. It was far too small,
and the lettering on the tomb stone was crudely cut. It took a few minutes
for her to trace the letters 'Donnal.' A few straggly bushes grew at its
base.

She didn't know why she had even come. It wasn't like she had ever really
gotten along with him. Even when he was around. Towards the end, it hadn't
even been about important things like the endless series of advantageous
matches that he was always arranging 'for' her. No, they had argued about
stupid things, like how she wore her hair, or how clean the kitchen floor
wasn't.

She kicked a stone with her Tevaed foot and stubbed her toe. It wasn't
like any of that had been his business anyway. He had no right to butt in.
He hadn't exactly been around to do the fatherly thing. She scowled at the
grave stone.

'Pretty stupid to get yourself killed, lunging out at Cian like that.' She
rolled her eyes. 'And I'm supposed to feel sorry for you? Fat chance!'

She started to stomp off and yelped from the pain of her throbbing toe.
Scowling furiously, she limped away from the grave site.
