Playerkilling, also known as pkill, PK or PvP, is the ability to kill other characters in game. When you enter LegendMUD you do not have this ability. You must decide to become a member of the pkill community, with the help of a full immortal or department head.
There are currently three types of pkill: PKE, Duel and PKOK.
If you want to PKEnable your character, you must contact a Senior immortal or Department Head while between (including) the levels of 10 and 49. No character under or over these level limitations will be PKEnabled for any reason.
When attempting PK for the first time, you may want to try DUEL first. If you wish to go right into PKE, then you should be aware that the ONLY ways out of PKE are PERMADEATH and REDEMPTION. ** THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS **
Multi-PKE is a radical change and one unto which we do not go lightly. The success of this 'experiment' (if you will) will hinge on the players and their ability to play within the rules and (more important) the spirit of the rules, especially those regarding OOC behavior, harassment and cross playing.
Multi-PKE is simply the ability to have multiple (read: TWO)PKE characters.
You will be *required* to have an account to take advantage of this feature. I will repeat that: if you do not have an account, you cannot have multiple PKE characters, just as the current rules stand.
Only one of your PKE characters may be in a PK clan. No exceptions. It would also be wise to not gather many (if any) clan friendships with a character who is not in a PK clan when you have one that is.
Your PKE characters will be limited as to when they can log on. There must be at least 8 hours between logging the previous PKE character out and a new PKE character logging in and the code will attempt to enforce this. Getting around this restriction will not be treated lightly. (You can of course log the same PKE character in and out all day.)
We reserve the right to limit individual players to fewer characters than players are allowed in PKE. This means that if you violate any rules, we may limit the number of PKE characters you can have down below the maximum we allow for other people.
If you redeem out of PKE and within 24 hours you regret your decision, you may appeal it with Sandra or Rufus. Any time after the 24 hours is up, this will not be considered. Mail is timestamped and the redeem process is logged, so we are able to track this 24 hour period. You will lose your redemption point. This will not be reimbursed.
Duels are another option for pk. There is no level limit in dueling, other than the requirement that you are level 10 or better. Dueling still follows rules for PKill, so be aware of them.
Think of dueling as a one-fight-at-a-time option to playerkilling. Both you and your opponent will decided when the fight takes place, and to what degree: Duels can be set to last until the first death, until a percentage of hit points is reached, or until a specific hit point number is reached. See 'help duel' in game for specific commands with regards to Duel.
PKOK is the nickname for a set of major code enhancements to Legend's pkill system. It allows players not only the choice of whether or not to participate in pkill, but also a detailed control over exactly which clans and individuals they wish to pkill with. The choices range anywhere from accepting fights with all players all the time (akin to the PKE system), to rejecting all fights except prearranged duels with individuals.
Under pkok, you may enable as many of your characters as you wish. All upper level limits for enabling are lifted (though level ranges that you are capable of attacking remain the same, and players under level 10 still cannot actively pkill and therefore you cannot get enabled until level 10). You can now be pkokenabled from the menu system.
The above changes are possible because with this new code, you cannot kill, loot, or pk-crossplay without the victim's consent. Players may simply reject fights from someone whose behavior in pkill is undesirable to them.
There is no upper level restriction on becoming PKOK enabled.
Characters who are not pkenabled may not interfere with pkill.
Read the help file on interference for detailed information on pkill interference. You will be held responsible for any interference you cause, even if you have not read this help file.
You may not, alerted to a pk situation through one character, switch to another character to assist. This is considered destructive cross-play. Though cross-playing is considered only a breach of etiquette normally, destructive cross-playing in pkill is not permitted and will result in punishment.
