Medieval Germany -- Kleinstadt

Nestled deep within the Black Forest, Kleinstadt, Germany is home to many craftsmen and to the fabled Ritters. The Ritters were gallant Knights who upheld five sacred truths: love, loyalty, faith, courage and honor. Medieval Germany was known for its excellent metalworking and glassblowing techniques. A bit e ccentric, these folk have been known to dabble in the magical arts as well. A scholar resides in the town, translating Germanic phrases for visitors. The romantic medieval setting provides a backdrop to a host of chivalric adventures.

Kleinstadt as a Hometown

Adventurers that choose Kleinstadt as their starting point will have certain advantages: Folks from Kleinstadt are well versed in most of the fighting techniques. They'll also be able to learn how to mend and repair their armor and weapons themselves. Kleinstadt, like Tara, is also an excellent starting point for magicians: Folks from here will be able to learn spell words from two of the three circles. Herbalism is almost unheard of here, so druids from Kleinstadt are unheard of. Kleinstadt exists prior to modern weaponery such as rifles and pistols, so adventurers from Klein will find those weapons unusable. In addition, modern surgical skills will be beyond their abilities.

Kleinstadt offers many of the skills you will find helpful when just starting off. Below is a list of important skills for starters and people to look to for guidance for these skills. Not all of these skills may be available to you, as they are all based on a different set of pre-requisites. To see what is available to you, type 'allskills'.

Questing in Kleinstadt

For information on how Questing works on LegendMud, please see the Questing section of the Newbie Guide.

Below is the start of one of the many quests available in the city of Kleinstadt:

Friederich, Klein's butcher, has a shop in the market place. Talking to him will reveal that his specialty is the famous German 'wurst'. Ask him 'help' to see if he requires your assistance.

After a brief conversation with Freiderich, he will say "I'm a bit low on my sausage supplies. I need more fennel for flavoring and an oak tree branch for the smokehouse before I can make any more. If you collected the supplies for me, I would reward you."

Both of these items are readily available in the Kleinstadt area. Since both of these things come from nature, start your search in the woods east of town. Hint: The branch might be IN something. Wonder where?

After finding both, return to Friederich and hand him the two items, one at a time, to receive his reward.

Kleinstadt Area Maps

Kleinstadt Hometown Map

This is virtually identical to the hometown map you were given when you created your character. It has the layout of the city's streets, as well as the locations of many of the shops and important buildings noted.

Kleinstadt Area Map

This map shows the immediate surroundings of your hometown. Individual rooms are not marked: This is only a general guide to help orient yourself as you begin to explore outside the safety of Kleinstadt. Some points of caution are marked, so be careful when exploring around those points!

Medieval Era Map

This is the 'Medieval Era', as represented currently in LegendMud. The colored areas are areas that currently are included in the MUD. Red lines are used to indicate regularly used paths of travel (they are not necessarily the ONLY paths one can take). Each of the colored rings indicates a separately defined area in the Ancient Era. A list of these can be viewed in-game by typing 'AREAS'.
