The year is 1841 and London has grown to be a sprawling city and important port for world trade. Cargo and passenger ships leave regularly from the docks, headed for ports such as Bengal, the African savannah, and America. Many have made large fortunes from the international trade... but this is also 'The Hungry Years': With the growing industrialization the lower class has grown substantially and fallen even further into poverty.
There's also an air of fear in this busy modern port: seedy back alley bars and opium dens are hotbeds for crime and corruption. There are also rumors... whispered in taverns and in the streets... of dark creatures stalking prey, of the bodies of men found with their blood drained.
The Port of London is a modern city set in the Industrial Era. As such, adventurers who choose London as a starting point will be able to learn the more modern skills like the use of pistols and rifles. Modern medical practices like surgery will also be available as an option for Londoners. As far as fighting with a blade: folks from London will find they'll never match the skill of those from Kleinstadt but will find that they can become quite adept. Magic is completely unheard of here, as is Herbalism and the druidic skills.

Below is the start of one of the many quests available in the city of London:
Sometimes a little boy in a sailor outfit can be found wandering with a lost look on his face. The streets of London are no place for a little boy to be on his own!
If you ask child help he'll sadly say that he's been shopping with his mother and wandered off, and now is quite lost. Next, ask child home. He'll follow you and say "If you could help me find the bridge at Parker Lane, I could find my way home."
Use your map of London and lead the poor little guy back to familiar surrounds!
back to topThis is virtually identical to the hometown map you were given when you created your character. It has the layout of the city's streets, as well as the locations of many of the shops and important buildings noted.
London Area MapThis map shows the immediate surroundings of your hometown. Individual rooms are not marked: This is only a general guide to help orient yourself as you begin to explore outside the safety of London. Some points of caution are marked, so be careful when exploring around those points!
Industrial Era MapThis is the 'Industrial Era', as represented currently in LegendMud. The colored areas are areas that currently are included in the MUD. Red lines are used to indicate regularly used paths of travel (they are not necessarily the ONLY paths one can take). Each of the colored rings indicates a separately defined area in the London Era. A list of these can be viewed in-game by typing 'AREAS'.
