Changes and Alterations
The following reflect some of the alterations to standard Diku and Merc muds here at LegendMUD:
- Don't quit out of the game! See HELP RENT.
- Regen of hit points, movement, and mana is calculated for a % of the whole time spent resting during a tick. You will find that resting only over the tick will not regen you very much. See HELP REST.
- Learning skills is very different; please see HELP PRACTICE for details.
- Our stats are on a 100 point scale. Also, they do not include the standard set of stats. See HELP STATS.
- Our XP scale is exponential. You need approximately 25 + (your level) kills of mobs of your level in order to advance to the next level.
- We do not permit multiplaying. See HELP MULTIPLAY.
- Our spell system is very different from standard muds. See HELP SPELLS. We also have herbal magic skills. You can type HELP for details on those skills if you qualify for them.
- Recall is a spell, not a command. See HELP RECALL.
- Although qualification for skills varies by level, qualification varies more importantly by stats. SeeHELP SKILLS
- We do have deathtraps here. See HELP DEATHTRAP.
- We have rules for behavior on the mudwide channels. See HELP CHANNELS.
- We have a voluntary pkill system with level restrictions. See HELP PKILL.
- See HELP GET for info on how to loot a corpse. Unless you've been befriended by a player (see HELP BEFRIEND) you cannot remove equipment from his or her corpse without steal. Please do not loot the corpses of players unless you just pkilled them.
- We don't hand out maps of the mud, sorry. You get a newbie map of your hometown with your newbie equipment. However, Legend is based on history of the globe, and you can get an idea of where different areas are by that.
- Hidden exits will NOT show in autoexits; neither will closed doors. Typing EXITS will reveal these as closed doors, however, unless they are secret doors.
- We have a mudmail system. Please see HELP MUDMAIL. As is usual on every mud, we ask that you check local and global boards. Our global boards are the welcome and news boards found in all hometown inns. We like and need feedback! You can read the welcome and news boards from anywhere in game, however you must be next to one to write on it.
- We have a bunch of interface-customization features. See HELP SUMMARY for a list.
- We have furniture items here; you can 'sit table,' 'rest chair,' 'sleep wagon,' or whatever else you prefer. Socials also work on objects here. See HELP SOCIALS for a list.
- Our banking commands are somewhat nonstandard. See HELP BANK.
- We don't have lockers; we do not intend to ever have automapping,
autolooting, or any other commands that permit players to not pay
attention to the game as they play. We don't have a command to sacrifice
corpses, but we do have a sacrifice social.
- We have player housing that works for clan/guild halls as well. See HELP HOUSING for information and related commands.
- We do have a series of abbreviations. Some may be different from what you are used to. See HELP ABBREVIATIONS. Recall is available only through
scrolls, potions, or magic; it is not a command available to players.
- Our hometowns affect the way your character will develop. HELP HOMETOWNS explains this.
- Read HELP BLEEDING; it will save your life.
- You can drown, and we have gravity.
The references to HELP (keyword) are in-game helpfiles. Be sure to read them and check The Newbie Guide for more information.
