A Note from the Editor

Updates from the Staff

Hi Everyone,

June is upon us with two major games planned. The first will take place today and it involves killing or chatting with some sea critters: we're celebrating Oceans Day! Later this month we will have an elf hunt to celebrate the upcoming summer. The theme will be mainly Midsummer Night's Dream. If I have some extra time, I also might run something for Bloomsday, so brush up on your James Joyce (duckfleehide).

A lot of people got unsubscribed from the LT mailing list this week. Lorenzo did some diggin' and some fixin' and everything should be ok now. If you did not receive this LT, then, well, you can't read this. Should I be telling you to re-subscribe? Tree falling in the woods and alla that.

Enjoy this somewhat thin LT edition!

Everybody knows the dieroll command, right? But not everybody knows that we also have a few other similar commands:

cointoss (flipping a coin)

Try to use them in game, they're fun!

The Pkill Front

Active two weeks! Looking at the logs you'd think we have a clans war on our hands with the new Assassins Guild constantly at Underworld's throat.

For the first time since we started this round-up, I think, UNDERWORLD has been pushed from the top of the list. We are indeed fortunate to live is such times and witness this historical shift in power.

THE ASSASSINS GUILD takes the lead this week in overall participation, participation within clan (VERY HIGH) and highest number of battles won. You want numbers? Ok. 89 battles fought, 71 of these ending in victory.

It isn't time to mourn UNDERWORLD just yet as they continue to be very active, and they still appear to be having fun. Underworld comes second this week in overall participation with 50 battles fought. Their losing streak continues with only 9 battles won. Participation within the clan was HIGH

The GRENDELS' rapid descent into old age has been contained, it seems. We mourned them last time with only a single battle fought. This time they participated in eight battles, winning three of them. Participation within the clan went back to HIGH.

Tagging behind everyone are THE GUARDIANS of Destiny under new management. Overall participation was low: only five battles fought, three of which were won. Participation within the clan was also low, with only half the members active. Let's hope they are adjusting to new management and will soon emerge formidable and victorious from their cocoon.

The most successful clan this time was THE ASSASSINS GUILD. All members of the clan showed great prowess: fighting many battles and winning most of them. But we have to choose one, so Artis it is. He is our most successful clanned pkiller this period with 40 battles fought, and 36 of those won.

As for our non-clanned pkillers, well, last time they put the clanned ones to shame. This time things have changed. Perhaps this is the result of some membership alterations within the clans. Old Rowane, Meatshield and Ire were the most active, with 11, 12 and 9 battles fought, and seven, five, and six battles won respectively.

PLAYER SUBMISSIONS

Untitled by Egreja

"I remembered his instructions clearly as the warp closed behind me. Regardless, I had to follow protocol, so I immediately took cover and activated my wrist comm. The major's voice came in clearly through my earpiece, 'Egreja has landed. All sixteen Operatives are on target. Commence Operation Chronos --- now. Destroy this device.' Without hesitation, I removed my wrist comm, tossed it onto the ground, and stomped it repeatedly, until it was utterly unrecognizable.

It was finally time. Hours of grueling exercises and briefings had led to this moment. The other 15 Operatives and I were elite troopers, a squadron of unmatched ability. That's why we were selected for this mission. It was fairly simple: The United States had just recently combined the armed forces branches into one branch, now called the A.L.S.A. (Army of Land, Sea, and Air) and started rigorous recruiting in 2087. The Council of Holders demanded the largest army possible. The age of Nuclear was one of few soldiers and several missiles. The U.S. aimed to change that, or so we were told. Signing on warriors to fight who already lived in the states was working well, but the Council wanted more.

So, on July 28th 2090, I was called to the A.L.S.A. Covert Ops headquarters, and given this mission. With the invention of the time machine in 2086, (and after several modifications), the Council declared a retroactive draft. They sent myself, along with the other 15 elite troopers, to different time periods. Our objectives are simple: A) We are to re-train our mind to adjust to combat in the time period to which we are assigned. B) We are to recruit great heroes and strategists of the time period to return with us to defend our great country.

I will not fail. My country needs me."
